The followers of the Hinduism will celebrate a famous religious festival known as Krishna Janmashtami festival in next week. For this festival the Hindu people will decorate their temples and conduct various events on these temples. This festival will be celebrated on 2nd of September 2010.  On the day Hindu people tell the story of Krishna birth by doing dramas on his birth and also break a high hanging better pot.

Lord Krishna is also known with many other names like Saatam Aatham, Srikrishna Jayanti, Gokulashtami”, Janmashtami, Sree Jayanthi and Krishnashtami. The birthday of Krishna and deity Vishnu is celebrated by the Hindus every year on the 8th day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shraavana. This is the day when Rohini Nakshatra was rising and mostly in every year it falls in the month of August and September. Last year it was celebrated on 14th of August 2010.

The most important part of the festival is Rasa Lila and Hindu people specially arrange this Rasa on this festival. The people around the areas of Mathura and Vrindavan arrange full preparation of this festival.  People gather for Rasa Lila Pat because it covers the complete life of Krishna from his childish days to his mischievous days. Hindu also fast on this day and arrange vigil at night in order to give honor to the midnight birth of Lord Krishna.

On the other hand people give bath to the baby Krishna and bring new jewelry and clothes for him as his birthday gift. People pray for their health and prosperity. The special prayers of this festival are conducted in Govindaji temple and ISKCON temple and people from all over the India gather there for special prayers.
