According to the reports from Mumbai, yesterday a sad incident was happened in the morning when two cargo ships left the Mumbai Coast. One of the ships is carrying a large amount of Oil on it and named as “MS CHITRA”. These two cargo ship had a collision somewhere in the sea. This collision caused a huge oil spill in the sea. The name of the other ship which caused this collision was MV KHALIJIA-III. 6 coastguard vessels and a helicopter are busy in dispersing anti pollution spray in order to control the water pollution caused by this oil spill.
A coast guard officer said that they are immediately doing anti pollution operations and for this purpose they are taking help from the six other ships and one helicopter. The also said that they get little success in finding the leakage but some portion of the MS CHITRA which was damaged during the collapse and sunk up in the water.
M.M. Savvi who is the Chief Nautical Advisor of Directorate General of Shipping told to PTI that the Directorate General of Shipping has set the investigation team for this accident on yesterday and various coasts guard along with some senior officers are under investigation.
These two ships are the Panamanian cargo ships and no reports of any casualties have been reported yet. There were thirty three crew members along with two Pakistani on this ship who were rescued by the rescue team immediately after the incident.
